Northwester 2 is Parkwind’s offshore wind farm completed in 2020. Located 51 km from shore in the Belgian North Sea, its 23 turbines over 11.7 km² transform wind energy into green electricity that can power up to 220,000 households.
Northwester 2 harnesses the latest advances in turbine and foundations technology. It is fitted with the largest commercially available wind turbine of the moment, the Vestas 9.5 MW- V164 as well as Parkwind’s patented “box platform” transition piece. This is engineered to withstand over 25 years in the offshore environment with minimal maintenance. Northwester 2 is one of the world’s most advanced offshore wind farms.
The project is the first to be connected to Elia’s offshore switchyard that consolidates electricity produced by wind farms in the Belgian North Sea. It's timely completion during the severe weather storms in the Winter of 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic is a triumph Parkwind is proud of.
