The Joint Industry Project has been founded to assess the challenges and opportunities for large scale floating wind farms, through the execution of multiple R&D projects, coordinated by Carbon Trust and funded by a consortium of offshore wind developers, including Parkwind.
There is little doubt that floating turbine technology can unlock vast new offshore development zones across the world which are currently unfit for traditional foundation technology. Floating structures will surely provide additional green power globally, but still require extensive testing, design engineering and economic modelling by consortiums such as the JIP.
Parkwind is actively working on several projects that include potential floating wind development zones.
